Castlemain again!

The state xc series offered up jubberland as it's location on Sunday the 8th, and myself and Kaos Leigh fancied ourselves a crack at the event, with the view of checking out the location for the 6 hour enduro coming up on the event horizon, on the 28th.

Leigh had nothing but good things to say about Jubberland, so I was looking forward to cutting a few laps out there! So keen was I, that when I heard that the lap was only 4.5ks and that my intended category would only be doing 3 laps, I fancied myself for the elite category and do 6. But leigh let me know that it was not going to be an easy 4.5ks. So I re-thought that, and entered sport division. Glad for it too, as we did a practice lap before the race got underway, and I soon learnt just how tricky the day was going to be...

Start was divided up by how many laps you were doing, so I was off with the last group. The single track started soon after the beginning, heading into some loose rocks and switch backs. Then over a bit of techy rocks, into some rocky declines, back through a little climb, then more loose rocks, then another techy rock section...

You get the idea...thrown in there amongst the rocks was a very hard a and b line rock decent which i only attempted the b line and made it through there fine, and one very hard pinch climb with a technical rock ledge at the top.

It was a tough day, and throughout it all I was chasing a girl who had gotten ahead of me just before the end of the first lap. I lost time on her on the first and second lap and made up time on the third. Which was exciting.

Podium!! 2nd place for me, which was nice!

Great day, really looking forward to the 6hr, which should be not quite as technical and a bit longer laps.

Seeyou out there!
