In the 10 years I have been mountain biking, Lysterfield Park has been my bread and butter mountain bike fix. Unfortunately Lysterfield fell victim to the damaging summer rains and has been closed for the last 3 months - leaving plenty a Melbourne mountain biker scratching there heads as to where to ride.
But some good news it to be had with with a few trails open for business. I took a spin out there last weekend and allthough there was not many trails that were open, with some fireroad thrown in I managed to scrape together a little 18k loop. It was good to get out there again, the trails that were open were in reasonable condition but with autumn upon us, I don't think it will take much rain before the trails could be closed again.

It's acutally only 90k's but it does have 2500m of climbing. Due to the 2011 course reroutes this course is all on public land so it can be ridden in full.
Expect some mud!
